Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Cook ziti pasta according to package directions. Drain well and set aside.
- Step 2: In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Step 3: Stir in marinara sauce and oregano to the browned ground beef. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Step 4: In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese.
- Step 5: In a large bowl, combine the cooked ziti, meat sauce, and ricotta cheese mixture. Mix well.
- Step 6: Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with mozzarella cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For easier slicing, let the ziti cool slightly longer than 10 minutes before serving.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat individual portions in the microwave or bake covered in the oven to prevent the cheese from drying out.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat sauce while it simmers.
