Delicious crispy fried mac and cheese balls recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Cooked Mac and Cheese, 3 cups
  • All-Purpose Flour, 1 cup
  • Eggs, 2 large
  • Panko Bread Crumbs, 2 cups
  • Vegetable Oil, for frying
  • Milk, 2 tablespoons
  • Salt, 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper, 1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Form the mac and cheese into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for at least 2 hours, or until solid.
  2. Step 2: Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. In the first dish, place the flour seasoned with salt and pepper. In the second dish, whisk the eggs with the milk. In the third dish, place the panko bread crumbs.
  3. Step 3: Remove the frozen mac and cheese balls from the freezer. Dredge each ball in the flour, then dip it in the egg mixture, and finally coat it thoroughly with the panko bread crumbs.
  4. Step 4: Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Step 5: Carefully place the breaded mac and cheese balls into the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the fryer. Fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • Store leftover fried mac and cheese balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For the best results, reheat the mac and cheese balls in an air fryer to regain their crispy texture.
  • Serve these irresistible mac and cheese balls with a side of marinara sauce or a creamy dipping sauce for extra flavor.
  • Make sure the mac and cheese balls are completely frozen before breading; this helps them hold their shape during frying.
