Ingredients
- Ground beef: 1 pound
- Taco seasoning: 1 packet
- Ranch dressing: 1 cup
- Catalina dressing: 1 cup
- Shredded cheddar cheese: 2 cups
- Doritos, nacho cheese flavor: 1 large bag
- Shredded lettuce: 6 cups
- Diced tomatoes: 2 medium
Instructions
- Step 1: Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Step 2: Stir in the taco seasoning with 1/2 cup of water according to the packet instructions. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed.
- Step 3: In a large bowl, crush about half of the bag of Doritos.
- Step 4: Add the lettuce, cooked ground beef, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese to the bowl.
- Step 5: Pour the ranch and Catalina dressings over the salad. Toss well to combine all ingredients.
- Step 6: Top with the remaining crushed Doritos before serving.
Notes
- To prevent soggy Doritos, add the final layer of crushed chips right before serving each portion.
- Store leftover salad in an airtight container in the fridge, but keep in mind the Doritos will soften over time.
- For an extra layer of flavor and texture, consider adding a dollop of sour cream or guacamole on top of each serving.
- For a zesty twist, use a spicier taco seasoning or add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the ground beef mixture.
