Ingredients
- Fresh peaches, peeled and sliced: 6 cups
- All-purpose flour: 1 cup
- Granulated sugar: 1 cup
- Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Milk: 1/2 cup
- Unsalted butter, melted: 1/2 cup
- Ground cinnamon: 1/2 teaspoon
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches with 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 4: Add the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 5: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter.
- Step 6: Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are tender. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Store leftover cobbler in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, ensuring it's tightly covered to prevent it from drying out.
- For a warm, comforting treat, reheat individual portions in the microwave for 30-60 seconds or bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream to complement the sweet, juicy peaches.
- Don't overmix the batter; a few lumps are okay, as this will result in a more tender and cake-like topping.
