Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe avocados
- 1/2 small white onion, finely chopped
- 2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
- 1 jalapeno, seeded and minced (optional)
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium-sized bowl.
- Step 2: Using a fork, mash the avocado to your desired consistency (chunky or smooth).
- Step 3: Add the chopped onion, diced tomatoes, minced jalapeno (if using), and chopped cilantro to the bowl.
- Step 4: Pour in the lime juice and sprinkle in the salt and cumin (if using).
- Step 5: Gently stir all ingredients together until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning (salt, lime juice) as needed.
- Step 6: Serve immediately with tortilla chips or your favorite dippers. To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole if not serving immediately.
Notes
- For longer storage, add an extra squeeze of lime juice and press a thin layer of water on top before covering with plastic wrap, then drain before serving.
- Guacamole is best served fresh, but if you must, gently fold in some freshly diced tomato and cilantro to brighten it up after refrigeration.
- Serve guacamole in a hollowed-out bell pepper for a colorful and edible serving dish!
- Don't be shy with the lime juice – it not only prevents browning but also balances the richness of the avocado.
