Delicious mozzarella chicken in basil cream sauce recipe with detailed instructions and nutritional information.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Chicken breasts, boneless and skinless: 2 (6-8 oz each)
  • Fresh mozzarella cheese: 8 oz, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves: 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Heavy cream: 1 cup
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
  • Parmesan cheese: 1/4 cup, grated
  • Salt and pepper: To taste

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Step 2: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes per side, until lightly browned.
  3. Step 3: Transfer the seared chicken breasts to the prepared baking dish. Top each chicken breast with slices of fresh mozzarella cheese.
  4. Step 4: In the same skillet, sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in the chopped fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Step 5: Pour the basil cream sauce over the chicken breasts and mozzarella cheese.
  6. Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the mozzarella cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For best results when reheating, warm gently in a skillet over low heat with a splash of extra cream to prevent the sauce from separating.
  • Serve this creamy chicken dish over a bed of pasta or with a side of roasted vegetables to soak up all that delicious sauce.
  • Don't overcrowd the skillet when searing the chicken; sear in batches if needed to ensure proper browning, which adds depth of flavor.
