Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 2 1/4 cups
- Baking powder: 1 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Unsalted butter, softened: 1 cup (2 sticks)
- Granulated sugar: 1 cup
- Cotton candy flavoring: 1 teaspoon
- Egg: 1 large
- Pink food coloring (gel): 2-3 drops
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 3: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and cotton candy flavoring until well combined. Stir in the pink food coloring.
- Step 4: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Step 5: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
- Step 6: Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain their soft and chewy texture for up to 3 days.
- For a warm, melty treat, microwave a cookie for 5-10 seconds.
- Serve these whimsical cookies with a glass of cold milk or alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a fun dessert.
- Chef's tip: Be careful not to overbake – slightly underbaked cookies will be softer and chewier!
